Why people invest in art ? And why some people so angry about it ?

A creation of man-kind, artificial objects, the combination of ideas and notions are shaped and reflected on a surface is called “ART” and it’s what charms people. The understand why people invest in art might be complicated however I believe that,

It might be interpreted in two ways;

First, the price tag of the artwork do not depict its value, the idea behind the artwork is the valuable for the art collector. The money can be interpreted as the contribution of the creation of art and the metaforically the solid payment of the experience which shaped the way of artist to come this far in his/her mind and idea world. The money that is given to an artwork is a different way of capitalist payment of the appreciation of artist and the path that lead him to create this work of art.

Second, consumerism” and “collectors”. Since we are living in a capitalist world, every app, gadget or existence around us shaped by capitalist tricks. In this society, also art finds a way to illustrate itself. It is shown as a bridge through the price and its relationships to work of art. Nowadays, the climate activists are searching for their rights through harming the artworks in museums. Activist’s aggressive gesture toward art and art lovers are mainly about the budgets spending on art. They are questioning why people are spending these millions on art when they can contribute to benefit of the planet. Although, I believe that we should care and support our planet and environment however, I do not go along with activist’s way of protecting their rights by harming artworks or at least trying to demolish it.

The planet and the art are two different crucial topics that cannot be allied together. Accusing art and the amount’s spending on art are not tolerated. Climate activists are vandalising art with their protests and actions without noticing. The one and clearly seen drawback is the galleries and art dealers. They are using and earning money from marketing artworks with high price to attract customers to gain higher profits. This is a real-life example of the alienation between society and art.
