Similar to a cut-up novel by William S. Burroughs, the joint exhibition by the three artists Martin Grobecker, Christopher Balassa and Christoph Sander combines various ele-ments and techniques to create something new.
Their spectrum ranges from subversive pictorial punchlines to detailed, sprawling graphics. In the group exhibition, drawings, paintings and prints merge into wild cosmos of images. The figurative representation is central, confronting mystical figures with grotesque cartoons or grinning old men’s faces.
Similar to Burroughs’ novel “Nova Express”, the title “Alchemic Vampires from Venus” sums up the intention of combining the most diverse elements and motifs to create so-mething irritatingly new. Viewers are encouraged to make their own connections and associations between the works - even with deliberate misinterpretations in mind.
